Thanks again, Canucks!

The Vancouver Canucks are currently in a nine game losing streak, stuck in the basement of their conference and safely out of the playoff picture. Because of this, the city of Vancouver will once more be free from any hockey-related riots.

So thanks, Canucks. I will remember your noble sacrifice when I walk along the streets of the downtown core this summer and there are no overturned cars on fire.

And the city shall not burn

You know Vancouver city officials were secretly breathing a sigh of relief when the LA Kings beat the Canucks 2-1 in overtime tonight to eliminate the Canucks in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Canucks played pretty badly to start the series and ended up in a 3-0 hole, something few teams climb out of and there was to be no miracle this time, either.

On the plus side, a short playoff run means people will turn to other things to entertain themselves this summer instead of rioting and pillaging the downtown core. So…lose-win, I guess!

Well, that was a riot

After last night’s 4-0 loss in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final, several hundred idiots in downtown Vancouver decided to have a riot. This may be the best image to capture the absurdity of rioting over a hockey loss:

I will have more on the game/riot shortly!
