Not an Olympic run

With the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics mere hours away, I ran for the second time post-weight lifting resumption. I was hoping to at least equal my 5:29 pace but fell short and only managed 5:34. What’s odd is that I actually felt pretty good for the run and felt I had a fairly good start, only to find I barely came in under 5 minutes. I find it hard to believe that I was nearly 10 seconds off the starting pace and yes, I’m almost ready to blame the iPod/sensor for not tracking things properly. 😛 I plan to calibrate it soon at the track at Kerrisdale Park, just to be on the safe side.

The Good: I dodged the rain again, though the sky was dark and foreboding and it was very mild once again, 10ºC. I noticed petals on the trail and realized that the trees along the edge of the park are beginning to bud and flower. As noted above, I had no particular problems during the run and the stiffness from the weightlifting didn’t seem to be a factor.

The Bad: Despite all the positives, I was still slower than I felt I should have been. If these speeds continue into next week I am not going to be very happy and when I’m not very happy, well, nothing really happens, but I still hate it.
