At this point the daily part should be in quotes, because I am way behind.

I did three sketches of a hibiscus flower before finally looking for a very simple cartoon reference. The result is okay, but better than the proverbial kick in the pants.

I am pretty tired of work and I am pretty tired of drawing flowers. I’m beginning to think doing an entire month of a theme for prompts is maybe not the best idea. At least not for plants. 😛

Anyway, with lousy weather in the forecast I may have some time to catch up. We’ll see.

I have fallen a full week behind on prompts due to things, but I am determined to catch up, starting with this tropical plant:

I was about to post this, then went back and made a lot of fiddly changes. It’s still not great, but it’s too early for Christmas, anyway. 😛

I especially like the way the smaller mushroom turned out. These were done using the following built-in Procreate brushes:

• Studio Pen for the mushrooms
• Wildgrass for the grass
• Rainforest for the background

The maple leaf was sort of done with reference, the other one I just made up, though it probably looks like something. I’m no plantologist, so I can’t say. This was done using various water brushes and is about one billion times better than anything I ever did with real water paints.

I made this using the Bardot Brush oil pastel brush for everything.

Continuing with the theme of seasonal plants (and catching up), a strawberry plant. Not my best strawberry, but it will do.

No matter what I did, I could not get this to look the way I wanted. Oh well. Enjoy a cherry blossom floating in a serene blue void.

Another plant I’d never heard of. I originally planned to do this cartoon-style, to hopefully get it done quick. But a few of the leaves looks weirdly realistic, despite the sketch being done entirely with colored pencils. Also, the reference pot was black, but I went with purple just because.

I am falling behind, but I still turned in this prickly effort. I deem it OK. I fixed the wonky pot by copying the better right half over to the left, creating perfect symmetry. Art!
