This one took way longer than it should have because I kept reworking the whole thing, adding stuff, removing it, putting it back. And then I forgot to add stars to the sky, but it probably works better without them, anyway. Serendipity!
I was trending under 170 pounds for most of the month (yay) but in the last week I decided to bake some brownies (uh oh). I have absolutely no self-control when it comes to brownies. This is now established fact.
My weight edged up past 170 pounds. Then it kept edging higher and higher. Fortunately it dipped a bit today, but I still gained nearly three pounds for the month. Ay caramba!
But! Total weight gain for the year is only 0.6 pounds, which is almost a rounding error. This is good. Better still, my body fat has taken a turn for the better, dropping significantly for the first time in a good while, 2.3 pounds worth this month and down by 1.7% as a percentage. Fitbit still classified me as “overweight” for the last three days of the month, but these were The Bad Brownie Days.
I vow no brownies next month and to not just drop below 170, but to get to at least 165 pounds. Yep!
Stats:
October 1: 169.5 pounds
October 31: 172.4 pounds (up 2.9 pounds)
Year to date: From 171.8 to 172.4 pounds (up 0.6 pounds)
And the body fat:
October 1: 22.2% (37.7 pounds of fat)
October 31: 20.5% (35.4 pounds of fat) (down 2.3 pounds)
I was eating too many brownies and forgot to post the last batch of prompts. Here’s the first of the last four, FLOAT. I was going for two things here: quick and simple. Success!
I am a full day late with this one, as I was feeling off last night and did not doodle. This shows my continuing obsession with Gum Gum People and their obsession with bananas.
It’s a Monday and traditionally Monday is a lazy day when it comes to exercise, but with only a handful of days left with good daylight after work, I decided to head out. It was 8ºC, but with little wind it didn’t feel too cold.
Fifteen minutes later and my butt was like ice. It dropped to 6ºC by the end, but I was sufficiently warmed up that it was fine. I wore shorts and had two layers up top–my usual long-sleeved running shirt and a sleeveless underneath. Unlike most times in the past, this did not result in me feeling overdressed. I have finally learned. (I noted only one other runner wore shorts, the rest were wearing sweatpants or some form of spandex/Lycra. Several were also wearing hoodies/jackets and gloves. I feel it would have been too warm for gloves, but still appreciate the extra-long sleeves on my shirt that can act as pseudo-gloves when needed.)
I was a bit slower on the walking portion, likely due to the much colder temperature but moved along at a good pace for the running part. Overall, I was glad I made the effort.
The stats:
Walk 25Average pace: 7:39/km
Location: Brunette River trail
Distance: 7.54 km
Time: 57:42
Weather: Clear
Temp: 8-6ºC
Humidity: 54%
Wind: light to nil
BPM: 132
Weight: 171.2 pounds
Total distance to date: 192.3 km
Devices: Apple Watch Series 5, iPhone 8
All day my allergies have been hammering me and I also feel vaguely like I am coming down with a cold, though I’m not sure where I might have picked up a cold from. I hardly ever swipe my fingers across virus-laden surfaces then vigorously rub my eyes afterward.
Maybe I will feel better in the morning.
Anyway, I found tonight’s “must complete all three rings and keep streak going” workout to be, well, a workout. I felt tired and off and here are the stats:
Pace: 9:29/km (9:20 km/h)
Time: 30:04 (30:06)
Distance: 3.17 km (3.22 km)
Calories burned: 280 (282)
BPM: 133 (135)
Technically I started this on time, but finished after midnight. I continue to move away from the pure black ink line art approach that Inktober exemplifies but I’m still not actually cheating, as I’m sticking to ink brushes. The ones used for this prompt were:
studio pen
brush pen
dry ink
marker
one other whose name I forget and will edit in later
I am not crazy about how the dirt turned out. Dirt is hard.
I don’t write much about politics–and especially not in 2020 when leaders around the world have often not just disappointed but been actively harmful, but this shot from the CBC News site of side-by-side stories captures the results of BC’s election yesterday. With advance poll and mail-in ballots still remaining to be counted, the results won’t be official for a while, but it seems clear the NDP won their biggest majority ever and the BC Liberals will almost certainly be looking for a new leader soon.
