A few photos from my afternoon trek to Piper Spit. It was a pleasant day and a stat holiday, so it was kind of packed. But that was okay. Really!

Snow is not in the forecast, and it’s mostly washed away (again) due to heavy rain, but here’s a last few photos to look over before the year comes to an end. Taken on December 26th.
Fun fact: I regularly mistype “Burnaby” as “Burnbaby.”

Woo. And it only took 10 days from when the snowfall happened!
This is off the Brunette River trail, near to the river. I just like all the green while we’re only weeks away from the start of winter.

My original plan was to walk the 6 km to Piper spit and take pictures of the birds. About halfway there, the snow started coming down hard enough that I turned back (my camera equipment is not really snow-compatible). But I did get some shots of snowy scenery with my phone. Enjoy these over a nice mug of hot chocolate!

Leave it to beaver
The beavers tried to take out this tree on the Brunette River–and another one a short distance away. I wonder why they never finished the job.
Maplewood Flats and Colony Farm birdapalooza, November 19, 2022
Another weirdly sunny and wind-free mid-November day for us to shoot birds with our cameras. Both places were teeming with songbirds looking for late season berries and seeds. Maplewood also had a lot of waterfowl along the shoreline.
A few random birds
I’ve been culling blurry or otherwise bad photos from my OneDrive folder, so it doesn’t get filled with…blurry and otherwise bad photos. One terabyte of storage is a lot, until it’s not.
As I cull the photos (closing in on 2,000 so far) I’ve rediscovered some that I quite like. I may have posted some of these before, but the heck with it, I am posting them together. These are typically shot in RAW and then adjusted or tweaked in post.
